For the more musical minded, and perhaps riding on the recent wave for singing television shows, the musicals of the West End are really the best in the world and can certainly match what rival Broadway has to offer; indeed many of the shows which are doing well right now are ones which have transferred over from across the pond. Wicked and Hairspray keep on pulling in the punters but, never fear, us British are doing ourselves proud as well. The incredible Les Miserables has now entered its 25th year whilst Andrew Lloyd Webber is still showing the rest how it’s done with sell-out performances of classics like Phantom of the Opera and the brand new sequel Love Never Dies.

For those who yearn for something a little more sombre and serious, there are a good many plays currently gracing the West End, from the wonderful All My Sons by Arthur Miller to the chilling and terrifying The Woman in Black, which is known to make audiences literally scream with terror as they watch.
